[Happy Harvest]

Hello everyone, from the homesteaders to the homesteader in training like us, this has been a lovely week here in the holler and for sure the begenning of the harvest season, most people are sad about this time of year it seems like everyone I talk to isn't happy because "winter is on it's way", but for us this is the time we get happy because we're so glad the muggy days of August are long gone! I will admit that for me September is somewhat bittersweet because it's the end of the garden season and also that fall simply doesn't last long enough to suit us. Though it may be the end of the gardening it is the beginning for a different kind of harvesting.. that is hunting season! Bear season is in right now but the weather isn't too great to do well, turns out the bears don't like rain! So although we needed the rain pretty badly it came at a bad time just like last year, Junebug had taken some vacation days and it rained on him the whole time. I guess that kind of luck continues but hopefully he will take at least one this year. The new pictures that I put up on our facebook page have the camping tent in them. He set it all up to see how it looked, it was my parents and had only been used once so now he has a new hunting tent to set up camp where ever he wants to hunt. He wants me to go but I just don't know about sleeping with the bears and coyotes, so I think Momma's place is here at the homestead lol! Anyway on the agenda we have to make a "prepare for the winter" checklist so I need some help here if any of you have any ways that you get ready for winter please post them on our facebook page. One thing we are going to do this year is put plastic over all the windows and if this winter is half as bad as last year, we're gonna need it. Thanks everyone for staying with us and keeping up with our blogs we hope ya'll have a happy harvest and God bless.~
